Himachal Governor Acharya Devvrat on Friday urged every member of the Himachal Pradesh University to work with team spirit to make it the number one University of the Country.
He was speaking on the occasion of the celebration of "A" grade accreditation accorded by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) to Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh was also present on the occasion.
The Governor applauded the efforts of the University for getting "A" grade by the NAAC and said that the credit goes to all members associated with the institute which confirmed that they have plenty of ability and attribute to achieve any target.
He urged the university to work for higher ranking and hoped that the University would achieve this target also.
Congratulating the University for the Achievement of "A" Grade, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said that he has special focus and interest on education sector and always kept the portfolio with himself. He said that liberal financial aid was being provided to the education sector and efforts were being made to enhance the quality of education in all institutions.
He said the state government had opened 42 colleges and 1329 schools during the last four years and had created 5608 posts of different categories in education department.
Vice Chancellor Prof. ADN Bajpai said that due to the consistent efforts of every member of the University and as a result of continuous progress, this institute of higher learning had been awarded "A" Grade by NAAC. He thanked the Chief Minister for increasing the budget of University from Rs. 50 crore to Rs. 90 crore and also appointment of 60 new lecturers besides providing 250 bigha land to the University.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor also presented "Certificate of Accreditation" from NAAC to the Governor and the Chief Minister.
