Chief Secretary Aditya Parsad Padhi inaugurated e-offices for the Ipicol and the Directorate of Horticulture here on Saturday. He said the basic aim of an e-office is to improve turnout, reduce turnaround time and ensure more accuracy, quality and transparency in governance. Padhi advised the Administrative Reform Wing of the General Administration (GA) Department and the NIC to expedite the process of implementation of e-office at the directorate and district levels. GA Department Additional Secretary RS Gopalan said that as of now e-offices have been put in place in the offices like the Commissioner, Commercial Tax, the Commissioner of Transport, the Ipicol and the Horticulture Directorate and the Centre for Modernising Government Initiatives (CMGI) in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC) is implementing this project. A target has been set to implement it at the Collectorates of 20 districts in the current financial year. The rest of the districts would be covered by the end of December 2016, he informed.
