Himachal Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Monday lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP Government at the Centre alleging that the CBI, the Enforcement Directorate and the Income-tax department were being misused against the political opponents of the BJP while the core issues facing the country were being sidelined and neglected.
Addressing a Youth Congress rally at the historic Seri Pavilion here, the chief minister alleged that the 14th Finance Commission had deprived of Zila Parishad and Panchyat Samities of their financial powers resulting in resentment among the PRIs and added the state government was considering to give them these powers from its own budget.
He said the newly constituted Niti Ayog in place of Yojna Ayog of which he was also a member as chief
minister, appears to a
non-functional entity as till today he has failed to understand what it had done as far as Himachal Pradesh was concerned.
Dismissing the performance of the Modi government as dismal, he said nothing seemed to have been done or achieved on the ground level so far.
Health Minister, Thakur Kaul Singh, who also spoke on the occasion, claimed that only the policies and program of Congress Party can lift the country out of the mire of poverty and backwardness.
The National President of Youth Congress, Amrender Singh Brar alleged that Modi government was throttling democracy and the Uttarakhand episode was the recent example where BJP leaders had to lick the dust.
Afzal Ahmed, in charge of HP Youth Congress lauded the achievements of Virbhadra Singh Government. Vikrmaditya, state youth Congress President, claimed that state government had made great strides in all spheres of development.
Excise and Taxation Minister, Prakash Chaudhary, Forest Minister, Thakur Singh Bharmauri, Urban Development Minister, Sudhir Sharma and chief Parliamentary secretaries Sohan lal Thakur and I.D lakhan also spoke
in the rally of the youth Congress.
