Secretary of Higher and Technical Education Jharkhand Government Ajay Kumar Singh has asked the DC Palamu Ameet Kumar to explore all avenues for setting up the Nilamber Pitamber university now on the sprawling plot of land of this university’s premier college the GlA college in Daltonganj as the secretary opined strongly that setting up of this university in urban area would be most beneficial to every stake holder like university officials, teachers, non teachers, students and their guardians.
Secretary further asked the DC to hold parleys with students organisations if they had any reservation of setting up this NP university on the plot of land of the GlA college.
Sources said the secretary so asked DC to hold parleys when he was told of a massive demonstration by a student organisation Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad in the early years of the inception of this university opposing any construction of NPU building on the plot of land of GlA college citing reasons then that this construction of NPU building) will restrict and retard the growth and expansion of this premier GlA college.
The ABVP had this belief that since a large chunk of campus and GlA college buildings are already in possession of the CRPF’s battalion headquarter on the GlA college ground then this construction of NPU’s buildings would further choke the GlA college.
Sources said the then chief minister Arjun Munda who was approached by the ABVP activists had directed the then VC of this university and then DC Palamu in the Daltonganj circuit house not to go for construction of the NPU building on the plot of GlA college and accordingly the then DC Palamu identified a chunk of land at Teekulya More on
