Haryana Human Rights Commission (HHRC) has received 64 complaints related to officials of civil and police administration’s laxity during the Jat quota agitation last month which turned violent leaving 30 dead in the state.
HHRC’s chairperson Justice Vijender Jain (retd) while taking suo motu cognizance of unfortunate incidents during the Jat quota agitation in the state had on March 4 decided to inquire into the violation of human rights and negligence in the prevention of such violation by a public servant.
The Commission had also deputed its members and officers to visit the riot affected areas. It had issued notices to NHAI, Railways, Haryana Principal Secretary Environment and Conservator Forests and the state's Principal Secretary, Irrigation seeking their reply by April 18 on losses suffered by them during the Jat agitation and action taken by them. The Commission will now begin its inquiry into the complaints.
