Performances by cultural troupes from the Maldives and Vietnam would mark the cultural evening being organised by the Haryana Government at Epicenter Auditorium, Sector 44, Gurgaon, on February 1.

A Government spokesman on Saturday said that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) would also be signed between the Haryana Cultural Affairs Department and the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR) the same day and at the same venue for exchange of cultural activities and to promote Haryana’s rich cultural heritage abroad. The agreement will be signed in the presence of Haryana Chief Minister, Manohar lal Khattar.

After the signing of the MoU, folk artistes from Haryana would be able to perform abroad and the foreign artistes would come to Haryana with the help of the Council. Under the agreement, the State Government would make arrangements for board, lodging and transportation for the visiting foreign artistes.

Similar arrangements would be made by the Government concerned when artistes from Haryana visit other countries, and the Council would act as a coordinator between the Governments. This would also boost tourism in the State.

The spokesman said that cultural items would be presented following the signing of the agreement. These would include performances by troupes from the Maldives and Vietnam, besides Haryanvi folk artistes. A show would be presented on the life of Swami Vivekananda by Chairman, Sangeet Natak Akademi Delhi, Shekhar Sen, and some glimpses of Haryanvi culture would also be presented especially for the foreign dignitaries, he added.
