Haryana Assembly on Tuesday adopted a motion of breach of privilege against Congress MlA Karan Singh Dalal for allegedly defaming the Ministers and claiming that they are indulging in corrupt practices.
Immediately after the privilege motion was admitted by the Speaker Kanwar Pal Gujjar, the Congress staged a walkout to protest the move while the INlD demanded an apology from Health Minister Anil Vij for using unparliamentary language in the Assembly.
As soon as the question hour ended, chief whip Gian Chand Gupta moved the privilege motion against Karan Singh Dalal for misleading the house by making a false statement against the Council of Ministers.
Karan Singh Dalal tried to justified his comments however faced the ire of BJP legislators who kept interrupting him and even demanded strict action against the Congress legislator for giving false statement in the House.
leader of opposition and INlD’s senior leader Abhay Singh Chautala then demanded that a privilege motion should also be adopted against Anil Vij for using unparliamentary language in the Assembly. Audio recordings of verbal duel between Anil Vij and Karan Dalal should be played in the House as both of them did wrong, demanded Chautala.
The Chief Minister Manohar lal then intervened saying that recordings of Monday’s proceedings should be played to clear any confusion.
The INlD legislators then kept demanding playing the recordings of Monday’s proceedings to punish the leaders who used unparliamentary language in the Assembly.
Following this, Anil Vij stood up to clarify his comments, however he ended up further infuriating the INlD legislators with his remarks against party’s legislator Jaswinder Singh Sandhu.
Soon after, all INlD legislators were on their feet, demanding an apology from Vij. Chautala went onto say that we will not allow the House to function if the remarks made by Vij are not withdrawn. Speaker Kanwar Pal Gujjar expunged most of the exchanges between the two sides and repeatedly appealed to them to calm down and remain in their seats.
Meanwhile, the privilege motion was adopted by the House by voice vote amidst protest by Congress legislators, who also staged a walkout.
The House referred
the issue to the Privileges Committee for examination and submission of its
report at the first sitting of the next session.
