A hardcore Maoist who was lOS (local Operating Squad) member of Naxal Rowghat Area Committee has surrendered before State Intelligence Branch (SIB), a senior police officer said here on Tuesday.
“The ultra identified as Satter alias Mangel alias Bharat Gavde who in past was the platoon commander of Naxal platoon number 23 was impressed with the surrender policy adopted by the Chhattisgarh Government and hence decided to join the mainstream of development,” Superintendent of Police (SP), SIB, Sundarraj P said.
According to the Police, Satter (32), a resident of Alanar village under Amabeda police station of Kanker district had joined Naxal cadre in 2003.
He had also worked as the member of ‘Bal Sangham’ the children unit of Maoists in 2002.
Satter was involved in blowing up of a CISF vehicle in 2008 at Balod wherein three security personnel were killed and their weapons were also looted, the SP said.
likewise, he was part of the Naxal team that had carried out an ambush attack on security forces at Khobramedha in Maharashtra in which six police personnel were injured.
Satter was wanted in connection with the killing of two persons one at Koylibeda and other at Narayanpur after orchestrating the Naxal self-styled ‘Jan Adalat’ this year, he said.
The surrendering ultra, SP said had fallen in love with Aruna, a Naxal, but was not permitted by senior Naxal leaders to get married.
“The two eloped and got married in their relative’s house at Panidobir. However, Naxals somehow traced Satter and took him away. Aruna on April 10, 2016 surrendered before Narayanpur police, so Satter too turned himself in before the police” the SP said.
