The fast unto death of guest teachers of Government schools continued on Tuesday. On the demand of ad hoc appointment in the Government schools eight guest teachers are sitting on the fast for last three days.
The President of the Government school guest teachers association Vivek Yadav said that the State Government should fulfill its promise of providing ad hoc appointments to the guest teachers.
He said that thousands of guest teachers are eagerly awaiting the meeting of the state cabinet slated on Wednesday and hope that the Government would honour its promise. Yadav threatened that the thousands of guest teachers would again hit streets if the State Government fails to accept the demand of these teachers. Former general secretary of Rajkeeya Shikshak Sangh (RSS), Sardar Singh Chauhan paid a visit the site of protest of these teachers and expressed his support to their cause.
These teachers are demanding that the State Government should ensure them that their services would be continued beyond March 2017. The State Government was willing to provide extension to the guest teachers but a High Court order thwarted the plan. The association of guest teacher is of the view that the State Government should ensure protection of their jobs.
