Government Railway Police (GRP) Bhopal on Tuesday arrested a 28-year-old woman and recovered valuables worth `1.20 lakh from her possession; search for accomplices of the accused has been intensified by the police.
According to the GRP Bhopal, a woman was nabbed in the afternoon on Wednesday. The nabbed accused was identified as Sunita Thakur. Based on the footage searched during the investigation the accused was identified and search was started for the accused and the police got success on Wednesday after the accused was spotted and was nabbed.
SHO of GRP Bhopal Hemant Shrivastava said that the action was taken after a complaint was lodged with the Government Railway Police (GRP) Bhopal on March 17 by Gwalior resident Meena Singh after her valuables were stolen on her way to Gwalior.
Accused is a resident of Hoshangabad and had confessed one theft in the past and it is possible that more thefts would be revealed in the further investigation, he added.
Providing the modus operandi Shrivastava said that the accused used to travel with proper ticket and would escape with stolen goods when the victim gets busy or pays less attention towards the goods and as the accused is a woman the victims would not get suspicious soon.
The police have recovered two gold chains, four gold finger rings and a mobile worth Rs 1.20 lakh.
The nabbed accused used to travel on daily basis from Hoshangabad to Bhopal for committing theft. She would dispose the stolen goods with her husband who went missing and search has been started to nab him.
