Chief Minister Raman Singh on Wednesday said that readers and masses come to know about the viewpoint of the State Government through the media only.
The Chief Minister ordered the top police and Administrative officers in insurgency-infested regions to take journalists into confidence and work in co-ordination.
There should not be any difficulty for scribes in reporting the developmental activities and people's problems. The State Government is committed to the freedom of the Press in Chhattisgarh. There should not be any doubts on these issues, he said.
Singh was speaking to Bastar Division Journalists organizations joint delegation on the premises Chhattisgarh Assembly on Wednesday. He listened intently to difficulties faced by the scribes in Bastar Division.
Tribal and Scheduled Caste Development Minister Kedar Kashyap and Forest Minister Mahesh Gagda were also present at the meeting.
The Chief Minister added that a high-level co-ordination committee had been constituted in which scribes are also members. In a democratic set-up, journalists are a link between the State Government and the masses.
Singh added that many social welfare activities are being implemented in the trouble-prone regions of the State and are getting good results. The role of media is highly appreciated and very crucial in taking the message of the authorities to the masses.
The Chief Minister instructed the top police and administrative officers of Bastar division to let journalists work with full freedom without any bias. They can report freely and independently. The police can take details of scribes from the local Press Clubs.
The delegation thanked the Chief Minister for high-level co-ordination committee.
Singh assured the delegation that he will personally visit the Bastar division in due course of time and discuss on various issues. Additional Chief Secretary N Baijendra Kumar, Public Relations Department Secretary Ganesh Shankar Misra, and Director of Public Relations Rajesh Sukumar Toppo were also present at the meeting.
