Global Bamboo Summit to be held in Indore from April 8

Global Bamboo Summit will be held at Indore to promote bamboo-based industries from April 8 to 10. This was decided at the State cabinet here on Wednesday.

Global Bamboo Summit will be held by State Bamboo Mission and Indian Federation of Green Energy (IFGI) in collaboration with Union Ministry of Environment and Forests and other bamboo-related Ministries. At the summit, maximum promotion will be given to units manufacturing machines, tools and equipment used in bamboo industry. A new common platform will be made in collaboration with architects, engineers and designers in bamboo sector resulting in state's economic growth.

The cabinet meeting decided to increase tendu leaf collection rate from Rs 950 to Rs 1250 per standard bag. The state government distributed Rs 252 crore to tendu leaf collectors through 1067 primary cooperative societies.

The cabinet gave consent to upgradation of district main roads by Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation with assistance from Asian Development Bank. A sum of Rs 3250 crore has been sanctioned for 54 main roads measuring 1532 kms under ‘Madhya Pradesh District Road-2 Sector Project’.

The cabinet decided to increase seats in Gyanodaya Vidyalayas for scheduled caste students from 2800 to 6400 seats. It has been decided to construct additional hostel buildings, classrooms and new residences for teachers in these schools.

The cabinet decided that Rs 74.33 crore HUDCO loans sanctioned for various heads for construction of houses for the urban poor under JNNURM to Indore Municipal Corporation will now be spent on Indore Sewerage Project. The cabinet decided to change head of this fund. The state government would repay 80 per cent of the loan and interest on this amount in 10 years to financial institutions/HUDCO. Remaining 20 percent of the loan and interest on this amount will be paid in 10 years to financial institutions/HUDCO.

The cabinet sanctioned one additional post of State Protocol Officer in the State Protocol Office.

The cabinet sanctioned creation of 6 posts to constitute Vigilance Cell in establishment of Madhya Pradesh High Court.
