Fire and road mishaps continue claiming lives

Fire and road mishap continue to strike the state claing 14 lives on Friday. While six of a family - all minors, were charred to death at a freak fire at their home, eight members of a family perished in a road mishap at Mahoba. 

In Bareilly, Raju Kashyap and his wife Rajni of Kali Dham Temple in Qila Police station area went to attend a marriage in Philiphit on Thursday night. Their four childrem- Saloni (16), Sanjana (14), Bhuri (10), Durga (8) and his brother Guddu’s children -- Mahima (9) and Debu (7) were left behind at the house. 

Early on Friday morning, the house caught fire when the kids forgot to put out a candle and went to sleep. When people saw smoke and flames emanating from the house, they broke open the door and found that the thatched roof had collapsed over the children charring them alive. After fire fighters doused the fire, all six bodies were retrieved. A case was registered and the bodies were sent for autopsy.

Meanwhile in a road mishap at Mahoba, eight members of a family were killed when the car they were travelling in rammed into a roadside tree in in the wee hours of Friday. 

As per reports, two brothers along with their family were on way from Mumbai to Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh) to attend a wedding. A their vehicle pased Sirjihi hamlet of Shreenagar area in Sura police station area, the driver lost control and crashed into a roadside tree. The impact left Brijesh (35), his wife Kanchan (32), his brother Sarvesh (30) and sister-in-law Risu (29) and four children dead. While six died on the spot, two children succumbed in a hospital. The brothers were businessmen in Mumbai and were natives of Harpur locality of Phakanpur in Pratapgarh. A case was registered and the bodies were sent for autopsy.

Meanwhile in Mathura, tree persons of a family, including a 13-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide due to penury in Sriji Baba Garden-I area in Gowardhan Road. The girl was paralysed since birth. As per reports, Ashok Pratap Singh hanged himself from a ceiling fan after poisoning his wife Neeta and daughter Astha on Thursday night. 

"The family took the extreme step as it was under debts after the closure of Ashok's company and the teenaged girl was paralytic since birth,” the police claimed. However a case was registered and the bodies were sent for autopsy. 

In one more incident reported from Badaun, a woman and her infant daughter were mowed down by a truck in Bisauli area on Friday morning. 

As per reports, Kamlesh and her daughter Gopika (2) were riding the pillion of her husband's bike which hit the open door of a stationery truck. The trio crashed to the ground and a speeding truck coming from behind ran them over killing Kamlesh and her daughter on the spot. While the woman's husband escaped unhurt, the truck driver fled the spot.
