Chief Secretary AP Padhi on Tuesday asked the Bhubaneswar Smart City authorities to expedite tender process for all the concerned projects. Reviewing progress of the Smart City development projects, Padhi issued this direction and stressed on connection of water supply pipes and electricity and construction of toilents and parking places at a distance of 200 to 500 metre from the Janpath and other main roads.
After the meeting, BMC Commissioner Krishan Kumar told reporters that traffic signal project, multi-level car parking projects at Unit II and Saheed Nagar were reviewed at the meeting. While notification has been issued for the traffic signal project, the Government has provided in-principle approval for the Unit II car parking project. The Unit II and Saheed Nagar parking projects would come at `60 crore and `65 crore, respectively.
Meanwhile, the General Administration Department has provided over four acres of land for the proposed railway station multi-purpose project. Padhi asked the Department to initiate process for transferring the rest eight acres of land for the project.
Meanwhile, the Works Department has completed construction of the road to the railway station. light signal, colouring and pass-way would be done to make it a smart-road.
A rehabilitation project would be erected under Awas Mission at Satya Nagar for which the GA Department as provided 19 acres of land and a tender has also been invited on behalf of the BDA. The project will have a total of 2,200 house units and households of three slums would be rehabilitated here.
Each house would cost `7.5 lakh. To get a house, a beneficiary family would give `1.5 lakh and `1 lakh would be available from the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. The State Government has planned to collect the rest `5 lakh from the private-public partnership (PPP) source.
