To strengthen the emergency services in the hill State, Himachal Government has decided to set up emergency wards in Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Shimla and Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College Tanda, the two premier health institutes of the State.
Presiding over the governing body meeting of Rogi Kalyan Samiti (RKS) of IGMC Shimla on Tuesday, Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur said a trauma centre would be established in the coming up OPD building of IGMC so that immediate treatment could be ensured in accidental cases. Moreover, water ATMs would also be installed in IGMC and Kamla Nehru Hospital, Shimla to facilitate the patients and their attendants.
The Minister directed the hospital administration to send the proposal to the State Government for filling up of vacant posts of different categories and for absorbing the outsource employees into RKS.
Approval was given during the meeting for the annual budget of 2016-17 which include estimated receipts to the tune of Rs. 4330 lakh and expenditure of Rs. 4580 lakh. The minister said that Rs. 3961.92 lakh were spent on various heads by RKS, IGMC Shimla and its associated hospitals for providing better health care facilities to the patients during last fiscal.
