DPS Bokaro stands up for 'HariyaliShapath'

Thursday, 30 June 2016 | PNS | Bokaro

Responding to the ‘HariyaliShapath’ initiative by the Government of Jharkhand, a special programme was organised at DPS Bokaro where the school took the pledge to protect the earth.

During the ‘HariyaliShapath’, the school pledged to plant, nurture and care for five trees and to celebrate student’s birthday by planting five trees. The school also pledged to use water and electricity judiciously along with keeping the classrooms and school’s premises spick and span.

It is a matter of fact that under the Go Green initiatives of DPS Bokaro the students have already been bringing a sapling on their birthdays which is planted in the school’s campus.

All students and teachers have also adopted a plant name for themselves and on every Wednesday they wear the plant badge for celebrating ‘Wednesday’ as Green Day. It is an initiative to create eco volunteers who take the ownership by connecting and protecting the adopted plant and thus, work for the green environment.

Speaking on the Dr. Hemlata S. Mohan said students are thus motivated and encouraged to share their responsibility of being a global citizen. “We continue to act locally and think globally to bring sustainable development where we all can have greener and safer future. In the coming time, we will continue to take up new initiatives”, she added.
