DMC's digital X-ray machines go kaput

Saturday, 30 April 2016 | PNS | Dehradun

Close on heels of malfunction of the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine, the digital X-ray machines of the associated hospital of Doon Medical College (DMC) have also broken down. There are two such machines in the radiology department of the hospital and incidentally both of them are out of order. More than 125 patients are served by these digital X ray machines daily. The In charge of these machines, Mahendra Bhandari said  that the company responsible for maintenance of these machines is informed about the snag and it is expected that the problem would be resolved in one or two days.

Meanwhile the Magnet of the MRI machine was transported to the MRI chamber of the hospital on Friday. The width of the instrument was more than the doors of the hospital so space for the machine was created by removing them and removing some portion of the accompanying walls. The Principal of the DMC, Dr Pradeep Bharati Gupta said that work to restore the machine is in progress and it soon it would start functioning. The patients are bearing the brunt of the malfunction of the important radio diagnostic machine as it is not working from last one and half months. In absence of this facility they are forced to shell out extra money at the private hospitals. At the DMC hospital the cost of one scan of MRI is Rs 3500 while the private centres charge double the amount from the patients.
