Based on a tip-off, the district police on Friday busted a cyber criminal gang and arrested six of its members from near the banks of Jorasimar river of Giridih. The gang of 30-35 was involved in purchasing costly items through online shopping by using bank accounts of various people, said Dy SP Vijay Ashis Kujur .

According to police reports the six accused have been identified as Rajendra Mandal ,son of late Kujno Mandal ,Sanjay Kumar Mandal son of Basudeo Mandal ,Anil Kumar Mandal father name is Dukhan Mandal,Jamun Mandal son of Bhatun Mandal, Dipu Kumar Mandal son of Kamal Mandal, all belonging to Jorasimar village within jurisdiction of Ahilyapur police station while six person named Charku Mandal son of Basudeo Mandal. While 29 other cyber criminals managed to fled from the spot.

The police also seized 12 no of mobiles, one no of mobile watch, and 200 pin no of the ATM and other documents related to banks from the accused. Recently when various police stations of Giridih got the complaints that someone has sneaked into the accounts of different people. SP Giridih Akhlesh V Verier instructed all police stations and asked them their officer-in charge acting promptly and solves the case.

DY SP Vijay Asish Kujur said in their mid 25s, the accused used to make fake verification call to people posing as staffers of a bank to get the details of their debit and credit cards.

Disclosing the modus operandi of the accused, the DY SP said that the accused used to call the debit and credit card holders on the pretest of solving various technical problems related to the cards or telling them that their cards could be blocked if they did not share their details. They could have truncation of several thousand of rupees from different account no of the different people of Giridih .SP further added. 

Police have registered a case (91/16) under 419/420/467/468/471/120Bof IPC and 66(C)(D)IT Act at Ahilyapur police station.
