Further augmenting power transmission capacity of the State, a 220/132 KV power sub-station of Chhattisgarh State Power Transmission Company limited (CSPTCl) was energised here at Gervani in the district on Wednesday.

The sub-station has been set up at a cost of Rs 33 crore, informed Managing Director, CSPTCl, Vijay Singh.

He further informed that with the start of this new station the number of power distribution sub-stations in Chhattisgarh has reached 93, which at the birth of the State was only 27.

Two transformers of 160 MVA and 63 MVA have been installed at this Centre, he added.

Singh further informed that in the year 2012, a Contractor was awarded the work of constructing this sub-station; however after passing of two years the contractor failed to start the construction work.

Therefore, the contract was cancelled and his agency was blacklisted, he said.

later on, the company carried out construction work of the sub-station and succeeded in energising it, he said.

The Gervani station would re-enforce the power distribution through 132/33KV sub-station that supplies electricity in Gharghoda, Patthalgaon and Jashpur region. It will also solve the low voltage problem in those areas, he said.
