Criminal Suka hurt in encounter with cops

Dreaded criminal Sukadev Behera alias Suka was injured in a police encounter near Dhauli on the outskirts of the city late on Thursday night.

According to reports, a special squad of Commissionerate police conducted a raid in an isolated area near Dhauli where the criminal was hatching a plan to commit crime.

Suka tried to flee from the spot by opening two rounds of fire at the police, following which the cops retaliated.

He sustained bullet injuries on his right leg and was initially admitted to the Capital Hospital here before being shifted to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack. He is now undergoing at the SCB amid tight security.

A pistol and two live bullets were seized from his possession.

As many as eight criminal cases are pending against Suka at several police stations in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack urban police districts and also in other districts.

Police also suspect his involvement in the case of loot from four morning walkers near lingipur here on December 28.
