In protest against the alleged “murder of democracy” by the Union Government as in the imposition of president’s rule in Uttarakhand, the Congress will rally from Jantar Mantar in New Delhi to the residence or office of the Prime Minister on May 6 as part of its loktantra Bachao Desh Bachao protest campaign. Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Kishore Upadhyay said this while addressing the media here on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, the PCC chief expressed gratitude to Congress party workers across the nation who had come out to express their support to the party’s loktantra Bachao, Uttarakhand Bachao Yatra campaign.
He said, “The BJP-led Union Government under prime minister Narendra Modi is responsible for the murder of democracy in Uttarakhand where a democratically elected government was brought down and replaced by imposition of president’s rule. The BJP-led Union Government has targeted non-Congress State Governments orchestrating conspiracies to create political instability in the states. Under the leadership of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi, Congress leaders and workers from across the nation will reach New Delhi on May 6 to carry out a protest march from Jantar Mantar to the residence or office of prime minister Narendra Modi as part of the loktantra Bachao Desh Bachao campaign of the Congress,” said the PCC chief.
He further said that on May 3, selected Congress information technology cell members and PCC spokesperson will attend a one-day training training programme in Haridwar. Office-bearers of the All India Congress Committee IT department and media department will administer the training at the workshop.
Further accusing BJP leaders of devious actions, the PCC chief said that when a party member spoke of making an audio recording of conversation between the rebel Congress MlAs and a senior BJP leader, Upadhyay had rejected the idea as treachery. He also dared various BJP leaders of the State and national level to swear their innocence holding the water of Ganga in their hands, adding that he too would do the same.
