lalit Kumar Das, a manager in HR department of Tata Steel and son of Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Tuesday promised to give a facelift to Rajkiyakrit Harijan Uchha Vidyalaya in Bhalubasa, the school where the CM got his primary education.
The 28-year-old lalit Kumar Das visited the school and promised to improve the basic amenities through his NGO ‘Samarpan’.
“I am very excited to be here. Whenever my father visits city he speaks about the school. I remember my father used his MlA fund for the new building of the school (G+2) last year. I decided to arrange in resources both from my NGO and also speak to administrative officials to ensure that students at the school have the basic amenities in place before the end of this year,” said lalit Kumar Das who is the convener of Samarpan.
The Rajkiyakrit Harijan Madhya Vidyalaya has been in existence since 1935 has on its roll 187 boys and 245 girls and has classes till eight. While the Rajkiyakrit Harijan Uchha Vidyalaya (class 9 and 10) has on its rolls 135 girls and 98 boys.
lalit Kumar Das who was accompanied by Jamshedpur East MlA’s (Raghubar Das) representative Pawan Kumar Agarwal listened to the grievances from the headmistress of the middle school, Sashikanta Minz and principal of high school, Rana Binod Kumar Singh. He also interacted with the students and motivated them.
“We want better safety arrangements. We have got the buildings but there are no grills which is required so that small children are safe. There is no kitchen shed forcing us to keep the utensils used to keep and distribute mid-day meals in the classrooms. There is no proper water supply in the toilets We also require a library and computers,” said the headmistress of the middle school.
