Years’ worth of efforts on part of several civil service officials of the State to promote the welfare of their colleagues manifested in the form of new building of Jharkhand State Civil Officers Institute (JSCOI) which became functional today.
Chief Minister Raghubar Das and Chief Secretary Rajiv Gauba dedicated the building to the bureaucrats of the State on Wednesday. Constructed with a budget of Rs five crores, the building will feature facilities like convention centre, tennis court, a multi-cuisine restaurant and much more.
The building will serve as a centre for activities directed to achieve the aforementioned goals. It will also features environment-friendly attributes like water harvesting and a wide array of trees including Rudraksh, Kalpavriksha and several other members of the flora with medicinal or other beneficial properties.
One major plus point of the new building is that it has been made with water harvesting structure. All roofs of the building will collect rainwater and then channel it to a pond. Although some of the features are yet to be added, most of the building is in functioning stage.
With a Governing Council of 24 civil services officials and 207 other members, Chief Secretary Rajiv Gauba has the position of Chairman in JSCOI, whereas
Personnel Secretary Ratan Kumar is the Secretary. Both will complete their stint in Jharkhand on Thursday, with the former joining Central Government as Secretary in Union Urban Development Department and the latter retiring.
Registered under the Society Registration Act, 1860, JSCOI endeavours to ensure welfare of the civil officials of the Jharkhand as well as tutor them in various aspects of civil services so that they can deliver better services to the people of the State. Making them aware of the prevalent challenges pertaining to their duties is also one of the objectives the Institute fulfils.
