Continuing his CM Ki Chaupal programme, Chief Minister Harish Rawat interacted with the residents of Cantt Assembly constituency at the weekend. Taking cognisance of issues raised by the public, Rawat resolved various public grievances on the spot apart from referring several issues to the district administration.
It should be mentioned that with an aim to bridge the gap between Government and common citizens, the CM has so far chaired such open public meets at various locations across the State.
He has been attending the meets held late in the evening to give an opportunity to office goers and daily wagers to state their grievances before the CM. Hearing out the citizens, Rawat either redresses their issue on the spot or directs the official concerned to take required action to sort the issue as early as possible. This programme is also causing some anxiety to district administration officials as the people present their case in front of the CM while also naming the officials they had earlier approached to get the needful done which has not yet been done.
Seeing the positive response a large number of people are attending the CM's Choupa with most of them presenting matters related to public health, water and electricity supply, road, education and other basic amenities. The CM addressed various matters related to the handicapped, education, health, medical treatment facility, financial assistance, transportation arrangement, irrigation and problems resulting from high tension power lines as well.
The CM had approved construction of an overhead water tank in Cantt assembly constituency but this has not been executed on ground so far so the people asked him to expedite this. later, the people also said that their routine life had been considerably disrupted due to delayed execution of the ongoing construction of flyover.
Taking cognisance, the CM instructed ADB officials to expedite the construction work of flyover between Balliwala and Ballupur. local resident Parvati Devi demanded pension for women with the CM assuring that not a single eligible woman will be left without pension. Following on the demand of business community, CM approved construction of one toilet each for women and men at Kishannagar Chowk. He also approved a road for Kishannagar area. later CM assured that women will be given vocational training by experts to enable them to secure their livelihood easily.
