Expert panel of three doctors from Maulana Azad Hospital and Safdarjung hospital, New Delhi visited Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Oncology department and reviewed its present status here on Wednesday. If the team of doctors from Centre finds Oncology Department as per the standard in their inspection process, soon Oncology department will be developed into State Cancer Institute catering to the need of various sections and providing quality medical assistance in the respective field.
However, during the inspection, Radiology department of RIMS was not found up to the standard as per the set prescribed norms which may create hindrance in getting the status of cancer institute. Doctors also reviewed other subsidiaries of the department and checked various lapses which may hinder the proceedings. Soon the report will be tabled about the status of RIMS Oncology department. Dr Kishore Singh and Dr VV Singh of Safdarjung Hospital including Dr Vikash Yadav of Maulana Azad Hospital conducted the inspection.
Notably, RIMS had sent the proposal to Centre Government for conducting inspection process of its existing infrastructure, so that the department can be developed into state cancer institute and to avail the benefit of National programme for prevention and control of cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and stroke.
