The Bharatiya Janata Party National Council, at the three-day convention at Kojikoda of Kerala, decided that the party would celebrate the birth centenary of Pandit Deendayal as ‘Welfare Year for Poor’.
Notably, the BJP would celebrate the birth centenary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya for one year from September 25, 2016 to September 25, 2017.
Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya birth centenary committee would be formed in district and Mandal level of Odisha for holdimng various activities, informed State committee coordinator Nayan Kishore Mohanty at a Press meet here on Thursday.
The party would hold a ‘Clean India Week’ from Gandhi Jayanti on October 2 to Gopabandhu Jayanti on October 9, Mohanty informed. The district presidents would identify the places and undertake a clean drive, he added.
The contribution of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya would be discussed in district level seminars, Mohanty said, adding that the social services by Gandhi and Gopabandhu would also be discussed. Besides, training camps would be organised the whole year and volunteers would be indentified who can devote their full time for the camps, he said.
BJP State spokesperson Dillip Mohanty and committee member Purnachandra Mallick were present, among others in the meet.
