BJP proposes panchayat polls on party line

Workers and officials of the State Unit of BJP have proposed to hold elections for Urban local Bodies and the Panchayati Raj Institutions with direct involvement of political parties. The decision was taken during the two-day executive committee meeting that concluded here on Wednesday.  

The party workers and officials, including the CM unanimously decided that the Panchayat Polls should be conducted on political basis, said state Spokesperson Ajay Maru to media persons today. The CM has been apprised of the decision now the government has to take a call, he added.

Notably, the elections for Urban local Bodies and the Panchayati Raj Institutions are conducted in the State without direct involvement of political parties. Only two Panchayat polls have been conducted in last 15 years since the creation of Jharkhand.

The party also discussed about strengthening its cadre base and organising working committee meetings and district and division level to spread the message of development to the masses. During the meeting the party officials from district level and rural areas were made aware of the work being done by the government at the Centre and the State.

During their speech, State In-charge and Senior BJP leader Trivendra Singh Rawat and Co-Organisation Secretary Saudhan Singh hailed the State government stating that it was working very well under the leadership of CM Raghubar Das, while CM Raghubar Das made the party workers aware of how the State government was trying to take lead from the Central government take maximum benefits from Central schemes and helping the Centre to accelerate the work of development.

Das, on the occasion, talked about the functioning and achievements of the Central Government in last 22 months and Jharkhand’s contribution to the NDA government at the Centre to achieve milestones of success. He gave detailed statistics how the government did well in schemes like PradhanMantri Mudra Yojna,  Jan Dhan Yojna, Pradhan Mantri Surksha Yojna, lPG connections for BPl families etc.

Maru informed that the CM had met Central Ministers and other Government officials at the Centre more than 100 times in the last 15 months and sought their help and guidance in the development works of Jharkhand. All Ministers, officials and the Prime Ministers have been appreciating the work of the government and assuring help to the State in all possible ways, he added.

The Spokesperson also informed that the year 2016 is being observed as the year of recruitment as 18,000 teachers have already been recruited and another 18,000 will soon be recruited. As many as 400 doctors have been recruited and it has been made mandatory for them to stay in the villages for at least three years after their first posting.

It was also informed that the Prime Minister is scheduled to visit the State on April 24 to attend a panchayati raj conference. The PM will also launch the 2600 MW project of the newly set up Patratu power venture.

The CM during the speech hailed the officials, people and leaders for their support to the government and said that zero corruption in the government was the most significant achievement of the NDA government in last 15 years in Jharkhand.
