With Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s June 2 Baleswar visit nearing, both the State Government machinery and the BJP State unit are on their toes to make the proposed Vikash Utsav successful on their respective obligations, incident-free event and pulling of highest possible crowds to the site.
While Chief Secretary AP Padhi and DGP KB Singh have already reviewed security arrangements conforming to the Blue Book, BJP senior leaders are camping at the site, the AIIMS Ground.
Meanwhile, party’s national general secretary and Odisha-in-charge Arun Singhon Saturday said the Prime Minister would detail out his Government’s achievements and carry messages of development during his day-long visit to the State.
The party has planned to mobilise nearly 5 lakh supporters to the venue to make the programme a grand success as this part of the State has traditionally been a stronghold of either Congress or BJD.
BJP leaders, including president Basant Panda, general secretary (organisation) Soudan Singh, Manmohan Samal, MlA Govind Das and Pratap Sarangi, have redoubled their efforts for the occasion. The party functionaries of six organisational districts, Baleswar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Rairangpur, are busy making transport and lodging arrangements for people of their respective areas, who would witness the PM’s speech.
Modi’s meeting is aimed to highlight the achievement of the NDA Government at the Centre during the past two years and the ‘failures’ of the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD Government in the State. This would be Modi’s fourth visit to the State after he took reigns at the Centre.
Baleswar is one of the six venues where mega rallies are being planned to mark the completion of two years of the BJP-led NDA Government.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to arrive at Baleswar at 10 am on June 2 and return after around two hours, party sources said.
