BJD asked to remove Biju logo from poll posters

Tuesday, 31 May 2016 | PNS | CUTTACK

Election officer for the ensuing by-election of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) laxmidhar Mohanty on Monday directed the ruling BJD candidate Tulasi Behera to remove the logo of Biju Patnaik Janma Saptabarshiki (birth centenary) from her posters.

Taking cognisance of a petition filed by the Congress that the BJD candidate has violated the model code of conduct for elections, the election officer directed her to immediately remove the logo from her posters as the same was a State Government programme.

“The BJD candidate has given an undertaking to remove the posters having the logo in them,” the election officer said.

The election officer, however, ruled that the instant violation did not merit for disqualification of the candidature.
