Vigilance officers on Friday arrested Bhadrak district's Karanjamala police outpost ASI Pratap Kumar Bhoi for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 2,000 from Bamadev Das of Kuamara village to return the land record (Patta) kept with him.
Das had alleged that his wife Madhabi Das had been arrested and later released on bail for keeping his land record. Das requested Bhoi to return his land record. But Bhoi demanded Rs 2,000 for the purpose.
The Vigilance officers laid a trap and caught Bhoi red-handed while taking the bribe money from the complainant at a place outside the outpost. Further investigation was in progress, an official release said.
