Wednesday, 31 August 2016 | PNS | ANANDAPUR/CUTTACK

People of Belabahali village in Keonjhar district turned a hopeless lot after the Orissa High Court on Tuesday rejected the public interest litigation (PIl) seeking an order against construction of a bridge over river Kusei at Belabahali.

Members of the Suraksha Manch held a meeting at the Shiv Temple in the village and decided further course of action. Manch president Prabhakar Sahoo, vice-president Anadi Sahoo and secretary Pramod Prusthi were present were present.

Notably, the district administration had started the bridge work amid imposition of Section 144 CrPC at the site. Villagers had put a red flag at Belbahali side and warned the administration not to cross the earmarked point. They were hoping that the court would order in their favour.

By now, only the approach road to the bridge site on the Siapada side has been constructed.
