The eight-day Monsoon Session of the 15th legislative Assembly concluded on Thursday passing as many as 11 Bills, including five on the last day, amidst protests by Opposition members.
Earlier on the day, Congress and BJP members slammed the State Government for not bringing a motion on Polavaram project for discussion in the House.
“Two Ministers had yesterday told the House that a motion on the Polavarm will be brought by the ruling party for discussion today. But the ruling party didn’t bring the motion as it has no date on the project. It knows only doing politics,” alleged leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra.
He said the Congress will do no compromise on the State’s interest. “You have no data on the project. But we have data and are ready to hold discussion on the issue. Bring the motion today and hold discussion,” Mishra put a challenge before the ruling Party.
Similarly, BJP legislature Party leader KV Singh Deo slammed the State Government for not bringing the motion.
“The State Government has no facts and figures regarding the Polavaram project. It is only doing politics as Panchayat election is ahead,” said Singh Deo.
However, BJD members Samir Dash and Pratap Jena refuted their charges.
In the afternoon, seven Bills were passed amidst protest by the Opposition members. The Bills are Odisha Clinical Establishments (Control and Regulation) Amendment Bill, Odisha Excise (Amendment) Bill, Odisha Conduct of Examination (Amendment) Bill, BPUT (Amendment) Bill, Bihar and Odisha Places of Pilgrimage (Odisha Amendment) Bill, Odisha Industries Service (Validation of Appointment of Assistant Managers and Assistant Directors) Bill and Odisha Development Authorities (Amendment) Bill.
