Four armed persons allegedly snatched a car from a 25-year-old man at a gunpoint on Saturday, following which an alert was sounded, police said.
Complainant Varun Jain, a resident of Dashmesh Nagar here claimed four masked men snatched his car near his house when he was going to Gurdwara at around 5 am. Jain said the carjackers thrashed him when he tried resist.
In his complaint, he claimed that unidentified men even took him in the car and dumped him at Sirhind road. The complainant told police that masked men were speaking in Hindi.
After receiving the complaint, police have sounded an alert in and around the city to trace the accused, police said adding, a case has been registered against unidentified men on the basis of complaint lodged by Jain.
Security is already tightened throughout Punjab in the wake of terror attack at Pathankot Airforce base station early this month.
