Positive things now happening to the crisis-stricken shelter home, the family members of Kamla (45), a Nepali national and inmate of Nari Niketan, are learnt to have identified the inmate after social welfare department officers had sent them her photograph through a Nepali journalist now based in Delhi. Kamla is said to have talked to her father over phone. It is further learnt that they would soon reach Dehradun to take her back home.
She hails from Kalkara, Arghakhanchi area of Nepal, said Uttarakhand additional secretary (social welfare) Manoj Chandran. Kamla expressed her wish to go back home, he said.
He further said they had come to learn about the place she was from as she had conversationally mentioned it. “The officials got in touch with Arghakhanchi Radio anchor through website and photograph of the inmate was sent to him. The anchor while presenting his programme on the air announced her name and informed the listeners that they could view the photograph of the missing inmate on the Radio website. The anchor providing the social welfare officials with the phone number, the inmate was enabled to talk with her family members. The family members assured said that they would soon come to Dehradun to take her back home,” he added.
It should be mentioned here that the department has recently handed over two inmates, natives of Tamil Nadu and (Bareilly) Uttar Pradesh, to their respective family members after their addresses were found out.
