The XIMB operation committee, the X-ops, organised the annual business conclave ‘Ashwamedh 2016,’ at the XIMB premises here on Saturday.
The event aimed at addressing the disruptive innovation in the operations field. Paul Wurth India Pvt ltd Sales and Marketing Associate Vice President Manoranjan Ram, Medical Director, Drushti Daan Eye Bank, lV Prasad Eye Institute, Dr Sujata Das, USHA International Business Head Ramesh Chembath and DGM-MIS, Bajaj Auto limited, Rajib Kumar Jena were present as speakers.
Manoranjan Ram said about how disruptive innovation has helped the Paul Wurtht survive for 140 years and also shed light on the differences between disruptive innovation and sustaining innovation.
“Disruptors are innovators but not all innovators are disruptors,” he said.
Dr Sujata Das explained how the tools of Operations Management are used in Health care sector for identifying the gaps in meeting the customer requirements. The model used in the lV Prasad Eye Institute and helped thousands of Indians access eye care, which was otherwise unattainable for them.
Ramesh Chembath expressed his views on the importance of understanding the underlying meaning of disruptive innovation and effective utilisation of business opportunities.
“An innovation which is able to take new sets of customer in its fold is only a disruptive innovation,” he explained.
XIMB alumni Rajib Jena said that disruptive innovation now is a rule, not an exception.
“Innovation is divinity in humanity. Disrupt yourself, or be ready for disruption”, he explained to an audience enraptured by his vast knowledge.
