Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan chaired a meeting of the Narmada Control Board on Saturday. Administrative sanction was given for three irrigation projects worth Rs 658.96 crore at the meeting.
These projects will facilitate irrigation in 39,000 hectare land. Beside this, tender for two irrigation projects costing Rs 911.62 crore has been approved. These projects will provide irrigation facility in 57,000 hectare land.
Due to the election code of conduct, Dhimarkhera Micro Irrigation project’s proposal has been kept in the abeyance in the meeting. It is informed that Chodi Jamaniya lift Irrigation Project worth Rs 68.36 crore will facilitate irrigation in 4000 hectare area in Khargone district.
Moreover, irrigation facility will be developed by Balkawada lift Irrigation Project costing Rs 123.69 crore to facilitate irrigation on 9,000 hectare area in Khargone district. Also, irrigation facility will be provided by Jawar lift Irrigation Project worth Rs 466.91 crore to Rs 26,000 hectare area in Khandwa district.
Similarly, Chhaigaonmakhan lift Micro Irrigation Project worth Rs 567.10 crore will provide irrigation facility in 35 thousand hectare land. Beside this, Bistan lift Irrigation Project worth Rs 374.63 crore will provide irrigation facility to 22,000 land in Khargone district. Chief Minister Chouhan directed the officials to complete the irrigation projects works within stipulated time. Minister for Forest Gourishankar Shejwar, Minister for Revenue Umashankar Gupta, Minister for Public Works Rampal Singh, Minister of State for Narmada Valley Development (Independent Charge) lal Singh Arya, Chairman Narmada Valley Development Authority Rakesh Sahni, Chief Secretary Antony DeSa, Additional Chief Secretary Home BP Singh, Additional Chief Secretary Narmada Valley Development Rajnish Vaishya were present in the meeting.
