Demanding immediate release of scholarship for students belonging to SC/ST studying in DAV (PG) College, scores of ABVP members protested at social welfare department and submitted a memorandum to the officer on Thursday.
However, social welfare officer Anurag Sankhnad said that he was not available in his office as he was deputed on the President’s duty.
He hoped that the scholarship fund for the intended beneficiaries would soon be released.
Students led by DAV (PG) College students’ union leader Rahul Kumar assembled at social welfare department office and shouted anti-department slogans.
The agitators had verbal arguments with the the department officials. Kumar said that despite the Government officials having assured them several times regarding release of scholarship funds, things are the same on the ground.
The protesters warned that they would intensify their stir if demands are not met soon.
