ABGKS workers allege thrashing by Ramdev guards

Saturday, 30 April 2016 | RADHIKA NAGRATH | Haridwar

Workers of a social organisation Akhil Bhartiya Gauraksha Kranti Sena based in Gujarat alleged that while pressing their demand to meet Baba Ramdev in Patanjali Yog Peeth on Thursday they had been beaten by the security guards of the Baba. Addressing a press conference in press club on Friday,  some members of the religious fraternity from Bhagirathi Dham of Haripur Kalan Haridwar in the  presence  of the  Gujarat-based outfit members warned  the yoga guru that  unless he  changed himself the members of religious fraternity in Haridwar would rise against him.

The outfit members claimed that they had been thrashed by the security guards and some  others-all belonging to Patanjali Yog Peeth- on Thursday when they had gone to meet the yoga guru after immersing ashes  of one Gabru Singh who had died during the  movement against cow slaughter in Rajkot in Gujarat at Har ki Pauri. They had  gone there  to invite the yoga guru to participate in the condolence meeting, they said. They also said that SO of Bahadrabad police station  had refused to lodge their complaint regarding the incident.

When quizzed, SO of Bahadrabad Pradeep Bisht said, “The workers of the Kranti Sena had gone to meet Baba Ramdev. They picked up a tiff with the security guards and created ruckus in the premises. They later withdrew their complaint.”

Throwing  weight  behind the sena members from Gujarat engaged in staging a movement against cow slaughter, national president of Sanatan Dharma Mahasabha Sri Balaji Dham of Haridwar, Swami Prabodhanand Giri said that Ramdev must change himself. Unless he does so  the saint community would rise against him, he said. He also dubbed  him as a business man and a political leader, masquerading as a saint under saffron clothes.
