A mobile lok Adalat under the aegis of the Odisha State legal Service Authority (SlSA), Cuttack reached the District legal Services Authority (DlSA) at the premises of the Rayagada District Court and conducted a lok Adalat near the daily market on Monday.
As many as 79 criminal cases were settled at the mobile camp, from where Rs 4,000 was collected as fine. As Rayagada district is dominated by the tribals and there are several death cases due to sorcery and other blind beliefs, a video show on witchcraft was also shown to the public at Bank Chowk to create awareness among the public.
The programme was led by DlSA secretary Dr Md MI Nabi and facilitated by local court registrar Dr Indu Sharma.
Kolnara Magistrate lopamudra Malla, Government advocate Ajit Pattanaik, advocate Samuel Tandi, labour leader Arun lenka, court manager Bijaya Rout and other court staff including police officials and bar association members were present.
