A 70-year-old woman was strangulated to death in Anna Nagar under Govindpura police station area on Thursday. The post-mortel report received on Friday confirmed that the victim was murdered.
According to the police the deceased Purain Bai was found in an unconscious state and was rushed to a nearby hospital where she declared dead.
Her nephew Harish Chandra who lives in her neigbourhood took her to hospital after he found her unconscious.
SHO of Govindpura Police Dinesh Singh Chouhan said that the deceased used to live alone. In the investigation the neck bone was found broken due to strangulation.
Deceased was not having any valuable which could be stolen and nothing was found stolen in the initial investigation. The reason of the murder would be investigated, he added.
The neighbours and relatives of the deceased would be questioned. It would investigated that the deceased was having any dispute with someone or fight in the past which cost her life.
Police suspects that her acquaintance or neighbours has been killed. fter the preliminary investigation the body was sent for the post mortem.
Initially the police registered a case under section 174 of the CrPC and later in the short post mortem report it was found that the deceased was strangulated to death after which a case under section 302 of the IPC and started further investigation.
Police said that the deceased used to live alone and used to rear goats. Her financial condition was not good enough to support
her ends.
