Saria sub-divisional police officer on Tuesday arrested six cattle smugglers from Saria –Bagodar road near Saria collage under the same police station. Police also seized one container truck and one Scorpio (JH 02-7689 ) laden with 32 cattle and Rs 55000 from their possession, said Deepak Kumar Sharma, the SDPO.
According to reports the Saria police Inspector and others police forces headed by the SDPO were tipped off that one container truck laden with about cattle were heading for Jamua to Babughat Kolkata.
The police laid a trap near Saria collage and on sighting it the police succeeded in nabbing six persons identified Md Mohmood alias Mannu of Jamua area while five others are Amzad Khan, Mehraz Khan, Gujra Khan, Tosif Khan and Kapil Khan.
The SDPO said the arrested persons were involved in the illegal cattle smuggling in the region.
