The Shreemandir core committee has decided to go ahead with the conservation work of the Jagamohan in Shreemandir by building four 30-foot steel pillars to support the structure.
The committee recently discussed the report presented by Chennai IIT Assistant Professor Dr Menon.
The report clearly says that the condition of Jagamohan is in a very poor state. Dr Menon report says that carbon wrapping is not suitable for its repair.
The committee decided not to wait for the two other reports and go ahead with the repair work. It has been decided that the four pillars supporting the Jagamohan will be given support by the four 30-foot tall steel pillars, while the capital columns will be wrapped in steel sheets.
The beams holding the capital columns will be traditionally repaired before being wrapped in steel sheets, according to sources.
Notably, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had recently in a letter to Union Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma had asked the Centre to direct the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to send its best technical experts to undertake the repair and restoration of the Jagamohan.
