24 teachers found absent suspended

The education department has suspended 24 teachers who were found absent from the Government schools on Tuesday. These teachers were found absent by the officials during a massive sudden inspection and raids conducted in all the districts of the State during the day. The Director-General (DG) of Education, Ranjana, directed the senior officials concerned to immediately suspend these absent teachers. In the inspection 19 schools in Purola block of Uttarkashi and three schools in Bageshwar were found closed. The DG has asked the District Education Officers (DEOs) of Uttarkashi and Bageshwar to conduct an inquiry on the serious issue of closure of the schools. She has also asked to issue show- cause notices to the Block Education Officers (BEO) concerned.

In the inspection, the officials checked attendance of teachers and students, teaching quality and Mid Day Meal (MDM) in 743 schools of the State.
