Dutee, Srabani enter 200 mtr final

Bhubaneswar: After tremendous performance shown by Odisha sprinters Dutee Chand and Srabani Nanda in the 100 meter event, also repeated their performance in 200 mtr heats and entered the final of the 20th Federation Cup National Senior Athletic championship -2016 at JN Stadium, New Delhi on Friday. The final will be take place on Saturday.

Due to injury in the 100 mtr event on Thursday Amiya Kumar Mallick did not take part in 200 mtr run. Odia girl Jauna Murmu representing ONGC secured bronze medal in 400 mtr which has completed today. Her team mate Poovamma secured Silver medal and gold medal won by Kerlian Anilda Thomas with timing of 52.40 sec.Jauna has taken 53.37 sec to complete 400 mtr and Poovamma has taken 52.60 sec. Purnima Hembram participating in Heptathlon event which is consisting of seven events has to be completed within two days. She has been leading in point tally on compilation of first day four events. Purnima has finished top position in all the four events today.

 

Strong reply by Cuttack-A in U-19 Inter-Dist final

Bhubaneswar: Cuttack were 123 for no loss at close of the truncated second day, in reply to a modest first-innings total of 240 by Bhubaneswar-A in the three-day final match of the Under-19 Inter-District Cricket Tournament at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Friday.

Cuttack-A openers Rajesh Dhuper was retired hurt for 53, while Mohammad Akram was batting on 60 when stumps were drawn for the day. Play in the afternoon session was affected due to rain. Earlier, resuming their first innings at the overnight score of 222 for five, Bhubaneswar-A folded up for 240, losing their last five wickets for just 18 runs. Sunil Roul was most successful bowler for the home side, taking four wickets for 88 runs.
