land allotted for 5 new police stations in Mohali

Chandigarh: Punjab government  on Friday gave approval for allotment of land for setting up of five new police stations in Mohali district.  The proposed police stations will come up at Sector 89, Aero City, IT City in Sector 66, Medi City in New Chandigarh (Mullanpur) and Sector 77 at Mohali, a government spokesperson said here. Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, who is also the chairman of Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA), approved the proposal for allotment of one acre land in Sector 89, 0.92 acre in Aero City, two acres in IT City, Sector 66 Beta, one acre in Medi City, New Chandigarh, and 0.50 acre for women police station in Sector 77 at Mohali, the official said.  These sites have been allotted to the police department free of cost as per the policy of GMADA, the spokesperson added.

CM APPROVES EXTENSION OF MEMBER PWRMDC

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has approved the extension of one year in the term of Harmesh Singh as Member on the Board of Directors in Punjab Water Resources Management and Development Corporation (PWRMDC).

Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has appointed senior journalist Kanwar Singh Sandhu and retired IAS officer Jasbir Singh Bir as the special invitee to the election campaign committee of Punjab. Political satirist, Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi has been given the responsibility of In-charge Party Communication department. Aam Aadmi Party, National Spokesperson and Incharge Punjab affairs Sanjay Singh, Punjab Convener, Sucha Singh Chhotepur, Secretary (Organization), Durgesh Pathak announced the appointments.

PUNJAB GIRl BOXERS SHINE at NATIONAl SCHOOl GAMES

Chandigarh: Keeping intact its glorious track record in National School Games, Punjab has again put up a good show in U-19 Girls Boxing competition of 61st National School Games, which were held in Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh). Punjab team has bagged overall second position with 1 Gold, 6 Silver and 3 Bronze medals in these games. Sarabjit Singh Toor, Deputy Director (Sports) said that Mandeep Kaur Chakar (ludhiana) snatched Gold, Jasdeep Kaur (Bathinda), Karamjit Kaur (Bathinda), Sirjan Sandhu (Patiala), Parwaj Kaur (Patiala), Parveen Kaur Rohiran (Sangrur) and Avineet Kaur (Barnala) got Silver medals and Harpreet Kaur (ludhiana), Amardeep Kaur Mastuana (Sangrur) and Rupinder Kaur (Bathinda) bagged Bronze medals. Greeting the players Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema, Education Minister, Punjab said that this achievement is the result of consistent hard work the players had put in.

GRIEVANCES OF UHBVN CONSUMERS to be redressed

Chandigarh: To redress the grievances of the consumers of electricity, the members of Consumer Grievances Redressal Forum (CGRF) of Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam will visit the areas of the Nigam in May 2016. The proceedings of the CGRF would be held at Yamuna Nagar on May 2, Karnal on May 5, Ambala on May 10, Sonepat on May 13, Panchkula on May 16, Kurukshetra on May 18, Panipat on May 20, Rohtak on May 23, Kaithal on May 25 and Jhajjar on May 27. He said that grievances could be about billing, voltage complaints, problems in metering, disconnection and reconnection of power supply, interruptions, failure of power supply, safety, reliability, non-compliance of Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission orders.

HARYANA RE-DESIGNATES SENIOR COPS

Chandigarh: Haryana Government has re-designated Dheeraj Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Haryana Human Rights Commission and Rameshwar Kumar, Assistant Commissioner of Police, NIT, Faridabad as Additional Superintendents of Police with immediate effect.

PUNJAB VIDHAN SABHA SPEAKER ATTENDS CPA IN UK

Chandigarh: Dr.Charnjit Singh Atwal, Speaker, Punjab Vidhan Sabha attended Mid Year Meeting of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) at United Kingdom. A government spokesman said that now, in its 105th year, the Commonwealth exists to develop, promote and support Parliamentarians and their staff to identify benchmarks of good governance and to implement the enduring values of the Commonwealth.  CPA Chairperson, Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury MP, Speaker of the Parliament of Bangladesh chaired the meeting with the Executive Committee Members representing the nine regions of the CPA – Africa, Asia, Australia, British Islands & Mediterranean, Canada, Caribbean, Americas & Atlantic, India, Pacific, and South East Asia.

PU STUDENTS GO ON CII INDUSTRY TOUR TO BADDI

Chandigarh: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organised a field tour of a group of 25 post-graduate students of Department of Social work, Panjab University to visit various social activities undertaken by Sentiss Pharma under its CSR programme. The aim of the tour was to sensitize the students about their role and responsibility towards the society as future leaders. Sanjay Khurana, Chairman CII Himachal Pradesh State Council said, “It is very important to prepare the youth today for their role as responsible citizens. This tour aims to provide them crucial industrial exposure on CSR perspective, how companies are working for CSR in current scenario and how students should equip themselves for betterment of industries and academia.”

DBS unveils India’s first mobile-only bank

Chandigarh: Singapore’s largest bank – DBS Bank has unveiled digibank which is India’s first mobile-only bank targeting its five million retail customers in the country. Digibank brings together an entire suite of ground-breaking technology from biometrics to artificial intelligence for its customers  away from conventional banking norms. The entire process would be paperless, signature-less and branchless bank.

Haryana DGP gives cheque to deceased Constable’s Kin

Chandigarh: Haryana Director General of Police  K. P. Singh on Friday handed over a cheque of Rs 25 lakh as accidental death insurance claim to Meena Kamboj, wife of late Head Constable Rakesh, who had died in a road accident. The cheque was hiven  through HDFC Bank at Police Headquarters, Panchkula.

A spokesman of the Haryana Police said that an agreement was signed between HDFC Bank and Haryana Police regarding salary accounts of employees in recent past. Under the agreement, HDFC Bank in view of nature of duty of police personnel  had provided for life insurance of up to Rs two lakh and accidental insurance of up to Rs 25 lakh. Apart from giving various facilities to police personnel by the bank, it would be for the first time that facilities of various kinds would also be extended to retired employees of Haryana Police up to 70 years of age. Head Constable Rakesh  had died in a road accident on January 30.This facility being provided by the Bank would build a sense of security among police personnel, the spokesman said.
