Rs 240.80 lakh Budget for Backward Classes

Shimla: Board of Directors (BoD) of Himachal Backward Classes and Finance and Development Corporation Kangra on Wednesday approved budget of Rs 240.80 lakhs for the year 2016-17 in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Chander Kumar. He said that Corporation had made recovery of loans worth Rs 5.13 crore during current financial year which was a record in itself. He urged the people of backward classes to take the benefits of the schemes launched by the corporation for their welfare. He said that the Corporation had started Mahila Samridhi Yojna for making women self reliant and financially independent. He said that under this scheme loans were being provided to self help groups and a loan of Rs 50,000 was being given to per beneficiary on four percent annual interest.

 

VERKA PANEER GETS NEW AVATAAR

MC SEIZES PlASTIC BAGS FROM SINDHI SWEETS

Chandigarh: As per the direction of Kriti Garg, SDM South, a team of Sanitary Inspectors of Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, inspected Baker Brothers, SCO No. 215, Sector 36-D and Sindhi Sweets, SCO No. 403, Sector 37-D, Chandigarh, where plastic items such as polythene bags, plastic glass were found.  Approximately 15 kg polythene/carry bags, plastic glasses items were seized and challans of Rs 5000/- each were issued to the erring shopkeepers. The seized items were later sent to the dumping ground situated in Dadumajra for safe disposal of the same. Kriti Garg, appealed to the traders as well as general public to discourage the use of polythene/ plastic bags / plastic plates/ glasses and such allied items to make the city cleaner and garbage free. She also made an appeal to the general public to shift to the safer options like jute/ cloth carry bags which are environment friendly and bio-degradable.

 

FORMER CRICKETER YOGRAJ CHEERS UP TEAM INDIA

Mohali: To cheer up the team India for the semi final match to be played between India and West Indies on March 31, renowned actor and Cricketer Yograj Singh visited Aryans Group of Colleges and interacted with the students. Talking to the students about the semi final match to be played between India and West Indies, Yograj said that with West Indies, Chris Gayle is the only player who is performing its best and making efforts while in Indian Cricket Team all the players are doing their best efforts in all the fields to make India win this WT20 match. While answering the questions of the students on actor Anushka Sharma, he said, “She is also the daughter of someone and we should respect the women as a whole”.

Chandigarh: The Sound and light Show timings at the Government Museum and Art Gallery, Chandigarh will be from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM with effect from 1st April 2016.

 

lPU BECOMES FIRST CASHlESS INSTITUTION

Chandigarh: India's largest mobile payment and commerce platform, Paytm, has taken its cashless solution to academic campuses with a strategic partnership with lovely Professional University, Jalandhar. lPU is the largest single campus university in India, with more than 25000 students, 3500 faculty and staff, offering over 200 program.
