BJP turns heat on Kirti, asks why he shouldn't be axed

Friday, 01 January 2016 | PNS | New Delhi

In a show-cause notice to suspended BJP MP Kirti Azad, who has been raising the issue of alleged corruption in DDCA, the BJP has cited instances of his “anti-party activities” and asked him to reply within 10 days before it could contemplate “further disciplinary action”, including “expulsion” from the party. The show-cause does not mention about the DDCA scandal.

The BJP has taken specific note of the MP describing certain office bearers as Asteen ka sanp in June, 2015.

A letter signed by BJP General Secretary and headquarters-in-charge Arun Singh, the party has accused  Darbh-anga MP that he “demeaned” the party leadership  and “its office bearers” by referring them as “ cancerous” after the Delhi polls.

The  communication dated December 30 said he had issued several statements which constitute “anti-party activity”.

The BJP which has already suspended him from the primary membership of the party that he had “ openly colluded “ with the opposition parties including the Congress and AAP. “ On December 21 you were prompted to speak in the lok Sabha by the members and leaders of the congress party . You spoke at their behest rather than conducting yourself as the disciplined member of the party, the letter said.

The BJP also held Azad on December 20, 2015, defying party leadership “by holding a press conference against specific advice of senior party leaders”.

On another occasion, the BJP said it is evident that on Azad’s “accusatory statements to media in December, 2015, AAP launched a vicious campaign against the party and its office bearers.”

The party’s letter referred to his allegations that office bearers of the party “are involved in corrupt activities” and went on to say “even to your knowledge these allegations are absolutely wrong”.

It said Azad’s twitter handle and statements “challenged the office bearers to initiate defamation case against you”

In view of the above said reasons, the BJP said the MP should “show cause”  within ten days so that the party could contemplate “further disciplinary action” in the case. eom
