After her comment over Pakistan which gave her worldwide publicity film actress-turned-Congress politician Ramya alias Divya Spandana is back in the news once again. Ramya now says the BJP and RSS did not fight for nation’s Independence but joined hands with the British and it was only the Indian National Congress who fought for India’s Independence.

The 33-year-old actress told mediapersons in Mandya on Tuesday after taking part in an National Students Union of India (NSUI)-organised rally that RSS and BJP had played no role in the country’s Independence. Ramya said Congress won freedom not RSS and BJP. She alleged that the RSS had sided with British during the freedom struggle.

She was speaking to Press persons after inaugurating the NSUI rally to promote patriotism among students and youngsters. The rally began near the KSRTC bus stand on the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway and a 3,350-ft.-long national flag was taken in a procession as part of NSUI’s ‘Deshakkagi Vidyarthi Nade’ programme.

Ramya, who has been in the news for making a comment on Pakistan, has now questioned the role of the Bharathiya Janata Party and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh  in the India's freedom movement, while lauding the contribution of the Indian National Congress to India's Independence.she said: "It is Congress which fought for our independence and the BJP and RSS did not participate in the freedom movement. In fact, they had collaborated with the British rulers."

Reacting to Ramya's comment, CT Ravi, General Secretary of the state BJP, tweeted, "@divyaspandana seems to have been bitten by @OfficeOfRG Bug as she says @RSSorg didn't fight for India's Independence but sided with British. [sic]" He continued, "CONgi @divyaspandana is in a Fool's Paradise if she expects people to believe her nonsense that @INCIndia alone fought for Our Independence. [sic]"

"@divyaspandana must realize that today's @INCIndia leaders are no way comparable to leaders of Congress who fought for Indian Independence. [sic]" CT Ravi ended. Ramya was quick to respond as she wrote, "@CTRavi_BJP @INCIndia What Hedgewar's and Golwalkar's views on India's freedom struggle is a well known fact. [sic]"

Ramya created a controversy recently after she made a comment that Pakistan is not hell and people living in the country are just humans like us. She attended the meeting of young parliamentarians in the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) in Pakistan.

The actress-turned-politician was responding to Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar's statement which said that "going to Pakistan is like going to hell." Following her statement, a sedition case was filed against her and it drew national media's attention.
