Buoyed by his party’s recent victories in by-elections and Municipal polls, BJP president Amit Shah said that his party has won hearts despite a canard being spread by Opposition parties over demonetisation of high value notes.
“Opposition parties are shell-shocked over the Government decision to cull high value notes as their money ‘looted’ through scams has turned into trash in one go. Before November 7, these leaders used to ask what action had been taken against black money by Modiji. Now they are asking why Modi has taken this action,” Shah said while addressing a Parviratan rally in Maharajganj on Tuesday.
The BJP topgun said that leaders who had stashed black money gave a call of Bharat Bandh and Aakrosh Diwas but people gave a befitting reply to them in local elections. The Opposition has made
demonetisation an election issue in the by-polls and civic polls in Maharshtra and Gujarat. But everywhere the BJP posted unprecedented victories,” Shah said.
“People’s mandate in these elections is referendum towards demonetisation. Black money would go to the State treasury and black marketers to jail,” the BJP president said.
In his 45-minute spech, Shah delved in detail about corruption during UPA regime and how Mayawati and Akhilesh Government had looted the State exchequer in a systematic manner. “In its 10 years regime, the UPA Government had earned over `12 lakh crore through different scams. leaders like Mamata Banerji, Mayawati, Kejriwal and Akhilesh Yadav are angry with Modiji because in one stroke, he has reduced their ill-gotten money to trash,” he said.
“The Modi Government has even introduced a bill in lok Sabha as per which taxes earned from unaccounted money would be utilised for poor people’s welfare. This is the only Government of the country which is working continuously towards public welfare. Other parties while in power, looted the State exchequer while the BJP is replenishing it through different sources,” Shah asserted.
Hitting out at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for his ‘khoon ki dalali’ remark on surgical strikes across the loC, the BJP chief said that the Modi Government acted within 10 days of the Uri attack unlike the previous Congress-led Government.
