One killed as boat capsizes in Mumbai

A 50-year-old man was killed, while 22 other members of a marriage party were rescued when a private boat capsized near Naigaon in Vasai tehsil of Thane district on Sunday.

Identifying the person killed as one Ramchandra Mahtre, the police said that the mishap took place when the boat was ferrying at least seventy people from Naigaon Jetty to Panju Island at around noon. Of the rescued, 10 were admitted to the municipal hospital at Vasai, while nine were taken to Cardinal Grascias Hospital. Three persons were rushed to Alliance Hospital.
